Hello! I’m Kelsey and I am thrilled to have you here. Delight of Mine is a place to talk all things home, family and food – some of my greatest delights!
Supporting, helping and connecting with other moms is of great value to me. Raising children can have its breathtaking highs and down-in-the-dumps lows. Knowing there are others going through similar experiences can be such an encouragement. That has been the inspiration behind this little site, Delight of Mine.
I was born and raised in Kansas and, after living in California and Oklahoma for a few years, I reside in the Sunflower State once again. I have been married to Joel since 2009 and we’ve had four sons. You can read the story about the loss of our first son, Ian, here. Our second, third and fourth sons are ages seven, four and one year. My husband and boys bring me so much joy (and challenge me 😉) daily.
Cooking/baking for my family and friends is one of my favorite things. I love delicious food and making new and old recipes. In addition to being in the kitchen, I enjoy reading, writing, laughing, going on walks and spending time with family. Watching sports – the Kansas State Wildcats and Green Bay Packers, specifically – is something Joel and I like to do together. I have been a stay-at-home mom since 2014 when our oldest son was 10 months old. I enjoy being at home with my boys most days (ha!) but am always thankful for the opportunity to be a SAHM.
I have recently started realizing the importance of having a simplified home. In other words, a home filled with less stuff. I have set out to get rid of things we own that do not serve a valuable purpose. It is not easy. It takes a lot of time and we are emotionally attached to some of our possessions. But it has been so worth it to free up space and have less material items demanding our attention. Our family still has a long way to go on this journey and you can follow along right here! Lastly, and most importantly, I am a follower of Jesus. Although I sometimes fail, my main goal in life is to be like Jesus and love others the way He loves. My prayer is that everything I do points back to Him.
